One of Memphis’ most historic schools, Memphis East High School offers a rigorous Engineering Optional Program that challenge students to achieve academic success. Located in the heart of Memphis on Poplar Avenue near Highland, one block from the Benjamin Hooks Main Library and minutes from local universities and museums, this beautifully built and carefully preserved school prepares students for success in their postsecondary studies and future careers. The faculty and staff of East High strive to creative a positive learning environment where a comprehensive curriculum prepares students to become lifelong learners. All students at Memphis East High School receive the respect, encouragement, and opportunities they need to build the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be successful, contributing members of a changing global society. 
     Students in the Engineering Optional Program are introduced to career opportunities in engineering, design, and technology. A full Honors curriculum emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering processes and Mathematics to prepare students for success in the post-secondary and professional arenas of engineering. 
     In addition to core subjects and courses related to the school’s Optional Programs, Memphis East High School also offers a wide variety of electives, including a strong art program in which students frequently produce award-winning artwork. 
    Memphis East High School offers a variety of student organizations, clubs, and activities to meet the needs and interests of all students, including the Technology Student Association (TSA), the Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA), FBLA, Art Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Student Council, and Peer Power. 

     Memphis East High School welcomes community involvement, and representatives from area universities, businesses, and the medical profession are instrumental in assisting with the curriculum and activities in Memphis East High School's Engineering and Health Sciences programs. These community partners also provide shadowing and internship opportunities for Memphis East High School students who are interested in pursuing careers related to engineering and the health sciences.
